Good to see Apple valuing intelligence for a change ;)

As of today you get a $100 discount in the Apple store if you can remember a four digit pin code!

The newly announced iPad mini 3 is apparently identical to the old mini except for a fingerprint scanner. If your memory is good enough to store the 4 digits of a passcode, you can do without it and you save $100.

Or in an interesting twist: if you have a working memory, you get 16 GB extra digital memory and still pocket $50 when you buy the Mini 2 instead of todays new model.

Is the iPad Mini 2 suddenly the smartest tablet deal in town?

  1. TBH having an iPhone 5s and an iPad mini it's funny to see how often I got frustrated that pressing the home button on the mini wasn't enough. TouchID can be quite convincing.

  2. Used Android for a few years. Happily back to iPhone these days.

  3. its not about simply remembering a four digit pin.

Benefits of touch id is every time you download an app you don't need to enter your password which can be 10 digits long which is the main reason why I want one.

Entering a 4 digit pin is insecure as people can see what you type.

Though I'm not going to pay $100 for touch ID. Il rather get iPad mini 2.

Because your credit card has to be connected even for a free app, right? +Johann Werner

  5. Haha…so true! Right on target!

  6. +Max Huijgen My credit car is not connected so why apple insist on a password I have no idea. If someone steals my phones they won't be able to buy me apps or download me free apps.

Didn't know that. From memory my daughter's iPhone works without a 10 digit code (but it demands the CVC of the credit-card even for free apps) +Johann Werner

  8. +Max Huijgen it is possible to use it without credit card, but they do make it hard and unnecessarily obtrusive to do so.

Ah, didn't know. So it's my daughter scheming ….

    iPad Air 2 is better.
